Bios of the Board
Kathleen Cook-Hunter, CTC, Board Chair
Kathleen Cook-Hunter, CTC, has worked as a volunteer with incarcerated women in Dallas County jails for 20 years and in Texas prisons for 12 years. Kathleen has seen many lives changed through the volunteerism of women in recovery. She is the owner of KCH Travel Portfolios, representing luxury travel companies. Her stepson, Martin Hunter is serving in the army and her husband, Paul Hunter, is a Professor with DCCD.
Jacqueline Hartley, Executive Board Director
Jacqueline is a native of England and came to the Unites States in 1981. Jacqueline has been involved with the recovery community since 1987 and has actively volunteered with both adult and juvenile females in State and Federal institutions in California and Texas. In 2003, Jacqueline was named “Detention Center Volunteer of the year” by the Dallas County Juvenile Department. She is married to Mark Kurland, an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner.
Randie Ravkind Ellis
Randie serves as the Treasurer on the GU Board and has been active in the recovery community for over 21 years. She has been the female coordinator for NA meetings in Gatesville for over 11 years. In 2007 she was awarded the Governor's Criminal Justice Volunteer Service Award in recognition of the programʼs positive impact on female inmates incarcerated within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. She is a Dallas native and currently lives in Plano, TX with Taylor, her 15 year old son. He has also been very active in volunteering at Grace.
Michael Young
Michael Young and his wife, Sharon Young, have worked tirelessly on GU's capital fund campaign. They have risen over $17,000 thus far. Michael is a mentor and a valued board member. Mr. Young is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario. He is a member of Canada's Sports Hall of Fame. He is chairman of the American Friends of the Art Gallery of Ontario, co-chair of the fundraising committee for Dignitas International (Toronto) and chairman of the capital campaign for Interval House (Toronto)
